Yay! Yay for the new season!

I really enjoyed it. I love it when they give me something I wasn't expecting and this episode was full of unexpected moments.

The Oceanic Six, eh?

I think this season is going to be arking to how those 6 got off the island and the show is going to conclude by switching to the future and having those 6 go back to the island to resolve whatever the fuck is eating away at Hurley and then later Jack. Did they abandon some of their own? What horrible thing ...

Later it'll be off to my sister's house to share dinner with her brood of eight, her husband, her father-in-law, my parents, my daughters and I guess some other people... she said 20 people for dinner.

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it, but my sister is Kate and she's married to Jon. That still cracks me up!

I hope everyone has a feast-filled, blessing-laden day..... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away..
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.
The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

We leave for the coast tomorrow. I've spent the day doing laundry and I'll have to pack soon. Couldn't find a way to get out of this one. Whatever, I want the girls to have a good holiday so I'll just focus on making it special for them and hope all goes well....for the whole FIVE DAYS we're with Rob's family. Most likely with NO INTERNET AT ALL. Still, I have lots to be thankful for and I shall endeavor to count my blessings.

I know it's early but I wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving ...

IS THERE ANOTHER GOVERNOR LIKE SARAH PALIN?

Written by Dewey Whetsell

Thursday, 19 November 2009

The last 45 of my 66 years I've spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it. It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, it's about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I'm about to mention here.

I've been reading my brand new copy of Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue". My wife brought it home for me today.....but I think a clerk at Border's played a trick, and switched the cover of the real book and put it on another book....I'm already on chapter three, and so far she hasn't cast one spell, thrown one hex, or summoned one demon. I read all the reviews, and I was promised that it was a book of the occult.

2009’s Word of the Year

The New Oxford American Dictionary has declared “unfriend,” meaning “to remove someone as a ‘friend’ on a social-networking site such as Facebook,” as the word of the year. “It has both currency and potential longevity,” says Christine Lindberg, senior lexicographer for Oxford’s U.S. dictionary program. “Unfriend has real lex-appeal.” The word is unique because it assumes a verb sense of “friend” that has not been used since the 17th century.Read it at OUP Blog

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor-he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness ...

Today we visited Charleston. First we drove out to Folly Beach and had brunch at a little place right on the beach. We walked out on the pier there and saw a few dolphins. It was a little chilly so I was surprised to see people surfing. We walked around in the historic area. There are some beautiful homes there. We got a bite at a great little place off the beaten track where I had a delicious crab cake.
